Your coworker and you are measuring the flow rate of red ice

Your coworker and you are measuring the flow rate of red ice cream cones kept at a cool 29.93F using a 2.953" inner diameter pipe and the Dall flow meter below. How and why do you raise the concern of error to your manager? What type of error is it and why does it occur? What is the best method to address this kind of error?

The Dall downstream inner diameter (P2) is 2.876” and you attached a manometer to P1 and P2 and see the mercury level change by a height of 8.765”.

  1. (40 points) Find the volumetric flow rate if the density of air is 1.23 kg/m3, density of water is 1000 kg/m3, density of the snowball is 200 kg/m3, SGHg = 17.6, g = 9.801 m/s2, coefficient of discharge of 0.997, and R = 8.134 kPa∙m3kmol∙K. Calculate the Reynolds number of the flow at the inlet (P1) if the kinematic viscosity of the red ice cream is 2.007 cSt.
  2. Is the inlet flow laminar, transient, or turbulent?
